Sony WH-1000XM5 Review: My Go-To Headphones for Deep Work

I tested them for 3 weeks in a noisy office. Here is what actually matters for focus.

📋 SUMMARY REVIEW — Sony WH-1000XM5

Overall Rating	4.6 / 5 ⭐ (18,000+ reviews)
Price	$398.00 — Free shipping • 30-day returns
Best For	Deep work, open offices, remote calls, travel
Not For	Budget under $250 or if you need foldable XM4
Battery	30 hours real use, 3-min charge = 3 hours
My Verdict	Best noise cancelling I have tried for voices. Pays for itself in saved focus hours. Worth $398 if you work in noise.

🎧 Check Price — $398 ⭐ Best Seller in Noise Cancelling

I used to think any noise-cancelling would do. My old pair hurt after an hour and let every chat in.

I bought XM5 for a project across 3 time zones from a shared office. Needed silence on demand. After 3 weeks, this stayed on my desk.

My Verdict in one line: Not for music only — for focus. If you work in noise, it saves hours. If you need foldable travel, XM4 is better.

✅ Liked
• Voices disappear • Clear on Zoom • 3-min quick charge • Light for 8hr days

❌ Not perfect
• $398 premium • Does not fold • Ears warm in summer

Real Use — 3 Weeks

Week 1: Open office, 6 calls — blocked chatter, team said mic clearer than laptop. Week 2: Forgot to charge, still 40% after 5-hour days. Week 3: 4-hour train, no head pressure.
